The gunwales and cabin are under
construction May 05. I made the cabin ends
from block balsa and used dowel down
each side for the shape, then covered it
with sheets of balsa. Ifilled and faired it up
and then glassed over it all. I then re-filled
and smothed it. The gunwales are glued on
with epoxy.
Deck mould is
glassed and ready
for removal.
The controlls are
connected and the
access hatches are cut
and ready for lids.
She was then ready to
have a mould taken off
the deck, then I started
finishing her off with
windows etc.
21-June 05
Apart from a cosmetic
tiller and possibly some
windows, she's finished
and ready for sea trials!!!!
22 June First sail went well, it was a bit
light on for wind.
Under motor.
Under sail.

Park (note mum near
the flag in her chair)
The Magpie
sailing at
Surrey Park
I've put
the name
on the
stern and
the "MP"
insignia on
one side
of the
mainsail.
Another light, rainy day
at Cherry Lake. I still
haven't sailed her in any
wind, but she seems
pretty well ballanced in
the light and is easily
driven by sail or motor.
7 July at Cherry Lake
Her first windy sail went well and the ballance was
just right after lots of adjustment.
Some more detail added like winches, cleats, life raft, vent and tiller extension. I
also stained the gunwales with rosewood.
16 Nov 05
I was repairing some scope damage to
the paintwork on the topsides and
decided to add some more colour and
stripes!
8 Feb 06

I added a skipper in the cockpit.
