I purchased a hull moulding from Ian
Mitchell of Ferntree Gully Victoria to
which I fitted the rudder stock, frames,
servo etc. I then made and fitted the
deck supports and gunwales.
The

gearbox/shaft etc.gearbox/shaft etc.
The cabin & wheelhouse
are made from balsa with
pine frames
I set up the BBQ in the bathroom
to melt the lead and poured it bit
by bit until she came down to
the desired hight and trim. This
was the hardest part of the
whole building job!
I set up the rig at this
stage to work out where
to put the chainplates
and mast steps etc,
before finishing off the
layout.
I built a rig box to keep the rigs
from getting damaged and
tangled up.
She sails like a dream at the
Surrey Park Model Boat Club in
Box Hill Melbourne.
The end result on
the trailer/cradle I
made to get it to
the water, as it's
over 5 feet long.
RC Combat
Tanker
After Refit
Click here for a short video clip of
it in action. Running, not battling
that is.
I bought this tanker for the 04 National Battle in Canberra and I
now use it for my Scope (Spastic Society) client boating
program. It's a fun boat to drive and is very stable due to it's
draft and very low centre of gravity etc. It barely heels at all on
full speed full rudder turns!
I've changed the paint-job from the dazzle scheme to it's
current beige colour, which is a bit more friendly looking.
Building a 'Footy'
from a Hull and
Plan
This is a New Zealand design of one foot
length. A bit like a Balmain Bug. It has a 2
channel radio with standard servos driving
the rudder and sails. I built it in a week and
had fun doing it.
I then made and fitted the radio
board, keel, transom, rudder etc.
The deck is 3mil ply
glassed over
I started with the bare
hull moulding and fitted

Sailor "Magpie 90"
I'll be building a few hull and deck kits for those who'd like to give the design a try.
No large file
I designed the plans using
'Prolines7' design software by
'Vacanti'
(Which I bought the licence for)
No large file for this one.

This does look like an Armadillo.(Ant eater)
I layed out the stations and aligned them
using their centres. I then drilled a hole
through the middle and fitted a dowel to
align them.
I made a keel from balsa and marked the
shape ready for trimming and fairing.
